Cushing Tissue Forceps Uses

Cushing tissue forceps have multiple uses, but mainly offer easy grasping of tissues and small objects. As a result, they are commonly used in neurosurgery and other surgeries requiring variable pressure and careful control. They also offer significant benefits in terms of grasping and moving tissue.

Cushing Tissue Forceps Sizes

This type of forceps is available in different sizes, including these lengths:

  • 6 ¾”
  • 7 ¼”

Some of these forceps may be made, in part, from tungsten carbide to enhance longevity and durability. However, all our instruments are primarily made of stainless steel for its strength, ease of sterilization and corrosion resistance.

Cushing Tissue Forceps Models

These forceps are available in multiple formats, including several profiles:

  • Bayonet: This handle shape features a curved shank that offers superior visibility and control in sensitive or deep surgical areas.
  • Straight: Straight handles are excellent for use in straightforward surgeries where no special access is required.
  • Curved: Curved handles create better access and visibility in more complex or sensitive surgeries.

The Cushing tissue forceps also offer multiple tip types, including the following:

  • Serrated: Serrated tips feature many small teeth to improve grip and reduce the chances of slippage when grasping tissues or other sensitive items.
  • 1 x 2 teeth: This tip configuration features two teeth on one jaw and another tooth on the other. The single tooth nestles firmly between the paired teeth, providing a firmer grasp.
  • Brown-type: The Brown-type tip is somewhere between the other options in terms of tooth size. It generally has a specific tooth placement (9 x 9 teeth, for instance), with medium-sized teeth.

Whatever your practice’s unique needs may be, Cushing tissue forceps are available in a form that helps facilitate improved surgeries.
